So today, we have just one story, but it's complicated and long and really interesting.

It comes from depositions, recently released in the lawsuit between the Florida-controlled

Central Florida Tourism Oversight District and Disney.

And in them, there's a couple of interesting details, I think, accidentally not redacted,

as to what Disney is thinking about beyond the currently announced plans for the Cars area

and Villains Land at the Magic Kingdom. And for clarity here, the answer is not themed hotels.

The disclosure is largely arranged into a small common phrase

that I think went unnoticed by redactors before these depositions were released to journalists.

And we'll get into that part of the story toward the end of our episode today.

But before we get there, the unusual inside story of what really happened back in 2022 and

23 as Governor DeSantis of Florida sought to take over the district that oversees the Disney

resort and fill its board with

people who were loyal to him, thereby putting pressure on Disney, presumably related to how it

was then speaking about cultural issues. I know some of you remember the public parts of this

clearly, but in April, that is this past month, there were about 700 pages that were released that gave new details into the way this all actually played out.

So that is our story for today.

So to start out, let me put this story in context.

About a year ago, journalists requested copies of depositions from the lawsuit between the CFTOD versus Disney.

The CFTOD, again, is the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District.

Basically, the state created replacement for the Reedy Creek Improvement District.

This is the special district that provides governmental oversight
