So today on the podcast, we finish off our exploration of what is the contemporary role of immersion,

0:07.8

or immersion in theme parks when the type of immersion that early designers once talked about,

0:14.2

that is, being removed from the world outside the park is really no longer fully possible.

0:20.6

We now take the outside world into the parks and our pockets, purses, and backpacks

0:26.6

via our phones and tablets.

0:29.6

Now that immersion is no longer a fully effective tool to create a themed bubble that

1:43.7

talking about was this.

1:46.2

In a world of pervasive technological connections, what does or what can theming give

1:53.4

us in terms of our experience inside of a well-designed park?

1:58.1

That is, have the end goals of theming changed in terms of our own experience,

2:03.7

and how has smartphone culture contributed to this change? And that's right where we're going to

2:11.9

jump back into our conversation today.
