So, if you've ever stayed at any of the on-property Disney resorts in Florida, you've

probably noticed the quiet traditions of hotel window displays, particularly around the winter

holidays. Guests will decorate the windows at the front of their hotel room with seasonal

decorations, sometimes using lights or figures or even homemade

signs. At Wilderness Lodge this year, I spotted many guests who have strong colored lights

across their balcony and over at the Polly. There's always one family who puts up the year

in lights across their balcony. This year they will start

with 2024 and LED lights, and then on January 1st, right at midnight, they will switch that over

to 2025. But these balcony displays are nothing compared to the displays that guests create at

their campsites out at the Fort Wilderness campgrounds. For many camping at the

fort they look forward to and plan out their campsites all year. Think of it

this way. Disney hires professional designers to create theme parks and resorts to entertain guests,

but a couple of times a year, mostly around Halloween and the winter holidays.

Guests at the fort create their own displays to entertain thousands and thousands of people

who move through the campground loops to see the lovely displays that

have been created that year. That's our story for today. At our house, the tree is still up,

at least for a few more days, there's some turkey left in the fridge and outside rain is

pebbling down on the sidewalk out in front of our house.
