So, we're now in December. Christmas trees are up in all of the American parks. Typically,

0:06.4

decorations are finished first in California and then a couple of weeks later in Florida. The gingerbread

0:12.3

houses are now up in many hotels again in Florida and in California. At Epcot, there's a brand-new

0:20.1

gingerbread version of spaceship earth with lights recently opened in Communicore Hall.

0:25.6

This version of Spaceship Earth is made from dark gingerbread.

0:29.6

With lines of lights around the panels, it's another instance of the resort imitating the resort using gingerbread. And just one building over from

0:40.6

that in Epcot, inside of the land pavilion, lights are up in living with the land. These light

0:48.2

displays started showing up in 2019 and each year since, the display has expanded.

0:55.5

Cruise started five years ago with the usual off-the-shelf light strings, but now there's

1:01.1

some unique small displays and ornaments that have been made by WDI.

1:06.6

Unlike other areas at the Florida Resort, where a dedicated decorations team puts up lights

1:12.9

and displays first in one hotel, then another park, then another hotel, the lights here

1:19.1

on living with the land are mostly put up by people who work there.

1:24.3

Often the science teams and also by those who work next door at the Seas Pavilion, they come over to help as well.

1:30.3

Essentially, many on the science team get into the spirit by working on these displays.

1:36.3

It takes weeks for these lights to be laid out, wrapped around trees, nestled into the sand, and so on. Most visitors to the greenhouses

1:46.2

in October as they ride through on boats don't realize that the lights are there, as they haven't

1:52.8

yet been turned on. But then, typically, in mid-November, often a few days before Thanksgiving,

2:00.6

they come on. It's become one of my favorite

2:04.1

displays at the resort. And as of this year, I would say, with even more lights there, it's starting

2:11.8

to look a little like the old Osborne lights that years ago were at the studios.

2:18.6

It's very much worth checking out, but make sure to go after 6 o'clock when it's dark.
