Why don't you turn to Matthew chapter 8 this morning?

Some of you might think I'm a weirdo, but oftentimes when I read a book,

I'm one of those guys that likes to read the last chapter first.

Sometimes I heard a groan from some of you guys.

That's pretty funny.

Sometimes I'll read the last sentence, just to see what the last

sentence is. And, you know, as it turns out, I guess I'm not alone. How many of you guys actually

do that same thing? Anybody else here that's a weirdo? Yep, you and me? We're the

anointed ones, as it turns out. And I'll tell you why. Did you know that the University of California at San Diego did a big study on this?

And they found, it turns out people who quote,

spoil stories for themselves by reading the last chapter,

actually have a more enjoyable experience

reading the story itself.

They've found that in their studies.

And I concur, I have to say. Now, it might be the way some of us are

wired. You see, I kind of like to see, one of the things I'm more interested is when there's a point A to

point B, I like to see how did we get from here to there? And so I think that's why I have that thing

in me. I want to know what the there is first before we watch the journey there.

And call me weird or whatever. Well, let's do that this morning. If you guys are willing to

indulge me, let's read the last sentence of our story first. And then we'll, well, you'll

kind of see what I mean, maybe, hopefully. It's Matthew chapter 8, verse 34. Let's take a look.
