Hey everybody, I am so glad you tuned in. I am so grateful for the privilege to serve you. I don't take a single one of you for granted.

I want to give you a heads up about something special that we have coming up and I want you to stay with it

because we're going a little bit off-road for my regular Bible teaching. Over the next couple of weeks for three

sessions, we are going to delve in to the topic of developing deeper compassion for the sexually

abused. The time is now. And we can honestly make this world a little better place by just learning how to come in with extra support.

You can expect three different things in the coming weeks.

Today it's going to be laying the framework, the foundation for our concept.

The second week is going to be a simple illustration that I'll give you in hopes that you'll be able to come in and relate to what

it's like to carry this around. The third week, all about practical application. How can we,

as friends, as family members, as church members, as a church staff, as a ministry staff, as people

in the community, how can we come around those with this kind of background that have gone

through this devastation? How can we be a little extra this kind of background that have gone through this devastation?

How can we be a little extra support and help them carry that burden until they're free?

That's what this is about.

We're going to shine the light of Christ on a most important topic so we can see him bring healing.

We'd have to have lived under a rock not to be aware of the sexual abuse scandals that have surfaced in the last several years,

all the way from Hollywood to houses of worship,

rocking denominations from Roman Catholicism to Southern Baptists.

I am serving here in this place in Houston, Texas, and I've got to tell you something, I am proud to be from Houston, Texas, because it is the Houston Chronicle that brought

so many things to light in regard to SBC churches. And we may think that that seems like

an adversary to that denomination, but that could not be more untrue. That is a friend to us.
