Financial support flows to Morocco as death's mount.

I'm Vivian Noona stepping in for Leana Bern, good morning.

We start today's programme with the aftermath of Friday's earthquake in Morocco.

The number of people known to have died has risen to more than 2000.

Some hilltop villages have been almost totally destroyed, many are still waiting for news

of missing relatives.

There are a lot of blocked roads, a lot of people can't find their parents and a lot

of people are still under the rubble, everything went down on them, the mountains, their homes.

In the popular tourist destination, Marrakesh, away from the epicenter, there are worries

visitors will stay away.

The tourism sector is a major part of the economy worth about $9 billion a year and employing

half a million people.

Our correspondent Anna Holigan spoke to us from the city.

I've been speaking to people who run the businesses, the suits, the markets that are synonymous

with Marrakesh and they're worried about their livelihoods, they're worried that tourists

will see these images here about the death toll and stay away and I was just speaking to

a gentleman who runs a spice stall and he said, we need you more than ever, you need

to come.

He wanted to be at home with his family today but he said he had to come to work because

he needs the money.
