HBO has been having a tough month.

Not only is its future, once again, up in the air with the Justice Department's appeal of AT&T's purchase of HBO's parent company,

but its new would-be owner, AT&T, wants HBO to drastically up the quantity of its original content,

to be more like longtime rival Netflix.

AT&T also wants HBO to expand its subscriber base, you know, more eyeballs, more customer data,

and of course, more advertising dollars. And AT&T is hoping more profits, too. HBO made $6 billion in revenue last year not

quite good enough for its new would-be parent. Over the last several years, HBO's been

capitalizing on the wild success of Game of Thrones to attract new subscribers,

but Game of Thrones is ending next year.
