It's been almost half a century since San Jose teacher Diane Peterson was staffed to death in the hallway of her school, but now police say they've cracked the case.

On June 16, 1978, a student found Peterson on the floor near her classroom with a single stab wound to her chest.

Earlier this week, the Santa Clara District Attorney's Office said that Harry Nikki, Nickerson, was the person who stabbed her.

He was 16 years old at the time and a longtime suspect. A witness had told police that Nickerson had confessed to the crime and that

he had seen him carrying a knife that had written on it, teacher dear. But the claim went on verified.
