Let's dive it.

We're being told that this is just administrative, but immigration detention is one of the

largest civil detention systems in the country currently.

To understand what's happening, we have to look at the law, follow the money, and accurately

assess the human consequences.

U.S. immigration and customs enforcement, also known as ICE,

detains individuals through ICE-owned facilities, privately owned centers,

and intergovernmental agreements with local jurisdictions.

Detention authority arises under Title VIII of the United States Code.

I want you to take a look at this clip of an attorney representing her client who's detained illegally and is suing the federal government over the policy of so-called federal immunity.

So today we are filing a law suit to fight what Stephen Miller calls federal immunity.

The way that courts have interpreted the situation is that if a federal official

gets into your house without a warrant, takes away your license firearm, you or even kills you or detains

you for no reason there's nothing you can do about that you cannot sue them in

state courts you cannot sue them in federal courts that's what Stephen Miller

calls federal immunity and it is wrong and we're filing this lawsuit to make sure that

it doesn't happen in the future and that there is no such thing as federal immunity.

This might just sound like some bureaucratic issue. But we're talking about civil detention,

not detention based on criminality.

In other words, people can be locked up for months with limited rights and limited oversight.

That's a very, very important distinction.
