Ukrainian history.

Since Russia invaded Ukraine, towns and cities have been flattened.

Thousands of people have been killed or injured and millions have been forced to leave their

homes and many their country.

We'll hear from women who are staying in their city.

Americans forced to leave their country and a Ukrainian mother now in Germany looking

for a new home away from the bombs.

The young guest always asked me if somebody here in John could kill us.

I said, everything okay, but now we're safe.

Now we're safe here.

When Vladimir Putin ordered the invasion of Ukraine on the 24th of February, not many were

predicting that several Russian advances would stall or even be pushed back.

No one knows with any certainty what will happen next.

Some experts say it could be some kind of stalemate lasting for weeks or even months.

In the meantime, the destruction continues and I want to take you to Harkiv.

It was one of the first cities to feel the full force of the invasion.

There have been endless Russian missile strikes and artillery bombardments, but recently

the Ukrainian army has been regaining ground.

The Ukraine's second largest city, Harkiv, is in the east and close to the Russian border.

It has seen at least half its 1.4 million population leave.

Two women who have remained in Harkiv are Natalia and Natalka.
