Explores the use of marijuana in a wide range of spiritual practices, including meditation, yoga, chanting, visualization, shamanism, group ceremonies, work with other entheogens, and as a creative aid
Truly a medicine for body and soul, one of cannabis’ greatest gifts is its remarkable potential for spiritual healing and awakening. In this authoritative guide, editor Stephen Gray and 17 other influential voices of the modern cannabis movement explore the spiritual benefits of cannabis and offer guidance on how to interact with the intelligence of this plant ally, a companion and supporter of humanity for millennia.

Exploring cannabis spirituality in practice, Gray’s chapters examine dosage, strains, and methods of intake; the use of cannabis to open the creative channels; how to conduct group ceremonies with cannabis; and cautions and counterindications for cannabis use. We hear from Chris Bennett on the religious and ritual use of cannabis from pre-biblical times to the present, Joan Bello on marijuana and the body-mind connection, Dee Dussault on ganja yoga, Kathleen Harrison on humanity’s coevolution with cannabis, and cannabis shaman Hamilton Souther on working with the spirit of cannabis. The contributors explore the spiritual future of this plant ally as well as the ritual use of cannabis by the Rastafarians of Jamaica and the Sadhus of India. The chapters from Brazilian ayahuasca shaman Mariano da Silva and ayahuasca apprentice Francisco present wisdom on comingling the sacramental medicines of cannabis and ayahuasca.

Revealing the potential of “the people’s plant” to enhance a wide range of spiritual practices, such as meditation, yoga, chanting, visualization, shamanism, spirit work, and explorations with other entheogens, this guide shows how cannabis is an effective ally on the awakening journey, unlocking the receptive energy in us all, and helping us to feel connected to nature, to each other, and to ourselves.

Hello, how are you there? I was looking at the calendar. We're beyond the halfway point of 2022,

0:46.7

and I would be remiss if I didn't mention that we're coming up on a midterm election here in the

0:53.2

United States. And most people are focusing on the various Senate and Congressional races

1:01.8

to learn who will be the dominant party for the remainder of the year into 2023 and beyond.

1:10.5

But there's also a lot of important topics on many ballots throughout the country.

1:16.7

One of the big ones is legalization of cannabis. And if you've been listening to Destiny,

1:25.4

I'm a big advocate, I'm an author of cannabis and sexual ecstasy for men, came out recently.

1:32.0

And as I've been interviewing on other programs and podcasts, it's come to my attention that there

1:40.4

are a number of states that are about to actually ratify and legalize the use of cannabis.

1:49.2

Marijuana, pot, weed, whatever you want to call it. This is a really good thing because,

1:54.8

as I've mentioned many times before, we don't know enough about the healing benefits of cannabis,

2:00.0

we don't know enough about its positive attributes. A lot of people are fearful of cannabis,

2:09.2

what they call a gateway drug that leads to people using heroin or strong and toxic

2:17.6

drugs that can be easily abused and are highly addictive. I don't go there simply because it's

2:24.0

everybody's different. But the point I'm trying to make is there is 16 states that are about to

2:31.7

offer their residents a chance to vote on legalization of recreational use. Now a lot of the

2:40.2

country, a lot of the states in the United States are allowed for medical use of marijuana.

2:49.3

And this is something that you have to work with your doctor, you have to get a card.

2:55.1

It's a different kind of cannabis and we're going to have some physicians on later in the year

3:01.5

to talk about what the difference is about medical marijuana versus recreational. Most of the time,
