Vance Havner used to say that the times are desperate, but we are not.

Today I bring you to the story of a woman who was desperate and a child that was desperate.

It's recorded for us in Matthew chapter number 15.

You'll find also the parallel to it in the gospel according to Mark.

It's an amazing story from Matthew 15 in Mark 7 about a Sirephanician woman

whose daughter needed the Lord's touch. Let's read a little from Matthew chapter number 15

beginning in verse number 21. Then Jesus went thence and departed into the coast of Tyran

Sidon. And behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coast

and cried unto him saying,

Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David.

My daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.

There's no pain quite like family pain, watching a child suffer.

I cannot even read this verse with a

passion with a pathos that this woman must have expressed it with oh the groan and the cry and yet in

verse 23 it says but he answered her not a word and his disciples came and besought him saying, send her away, for she crieth after us.

But he answered and said, I am not sent but under the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
