In case you're wondering about the suit that I have on, I have a funeral at 1 o'clock.

So I won't be able to hang out too long afterwards.

And then I'm preaching again tonight at 5.30.

So there won't be any wardrobe change today.

Let me pray.

Father in heaven, we want so much for you to be by the Holy Spirit,

our teacher. And so we open our lives to you and we ask that you would draw near and that you would speak to us by your word.

Make it powerful.

Make it penetrating.

Make it take root in our lives so that we don't just look at it and walk away and forget what we've seen.

Make it transforming.

We long to be a new and ever reforming kind of people

whose lives are being brought into increasing conformity to Jesus.

And we believe you do it by your word, by prayer, by fasting,

by the other disciplines of grace.

So come.

Show us these things.

Be powerful and weighty in this room right now.

I pray through Christ.
