Tell us a little bit about your family before we start.

So I am the father of two kids, Georgia, aged 11, and Ezra, who just turned 14 last week.

Their mother and I are separated.

We have been since 2010. We co-parent as well as I think way better than I expected. And we because we both have two kids that we care for and love a lot, we pretty much stay focused on keeping our relationship in a

functional way so that we can support both of them.

She does live in Oakland. So for many years, I was a stay-at-home dad for the first seven

years of parenting. And then when we separated, we went to a, well, we had a brief, like, two-day, two-day thing that was a little bit in terms of custody, which we found a little bit manic and the kids didn't love that as much. You mean they would go back and forth every two days? Yeah, it was like Monday, Tuesday, here, Wednesday, Thursday, here, and alternating Friday, Saturday, Sunday. And then we switched to week on, week off, which was a lot better.

But it's always tricky to have two houses, especially as the kids get older, because

then it's like, oh, my viola is at dad's house, but my soccer cleats are at mom's house.

Like, there was that kind of stuff was happening a lot.
