Welcome to the Athletic Football Show. Today is Thursday, October 21st. I'm Robert Mays. Great show for you guys today.

Matt Fairburn, our new Patriots writer is going to be joining us a little bit later for our weekly team

0:33.3

visit. Before we do that, though, I'm thrilled to welcome my good friend, Lindsay Jones. Lindsay,

0:37.4

how are you doing? I'm great. How about you, Robert? I am doing very well. It is another week in the NFL. It is week seven in the NFL. We were going to dig into some of the injury realities associated with the league right now. I think that was kind of the big topic of discussion. Just a lot of the news was centered around who was hurt, who was going to play.

0:56.5

Obviously, the Browns were at the forefront of that.

0:58.2

We are going to get to some of that a little bit down the road.

1:00.2

But right before we started recording today, there was a report from John McLean, who for people who do not know is a long time, Houston Chronicle writer who has been covering the Texans since their inception

1:12.0

is kind of an authoritative voice on the franchise. He reported earlier today that it sounds

1:17.8

like there could be a deal done for Deshawn Watson as soon as the end of this week.

unpack here. I don't know how far down this road you want to get right now, but it definitely

1:32.4

felt like something we should talk about because it's going to be a huge topic of discussion here

1:36.9

over the next couple days. For sure. And this was all kind of developing as we, just as we were

1:41.6

starting to record tonight. So I think there's probably a lot that's

1:45.0

going to be developing tonight into Wednesday or this is Wednesday into Thursday. And certainly

1:50.9

over the next, you know, coming days, coming weeks, depending on how long this takes. It's very

1:56.3

complicated, right? And we've, we've talked about a lot of so complicated. There's no no it's really hard to look at this from a purely football standpoint because if this was strictly a football story, a trade would have happened probably a long time ago because or not at all or not at all. Or they just refuse to have make it happen because he was playing. So but basically just to kind of reset where exactly we are right now.
