But to actually put that into a team in three days

where you could see some of the work that's gone on.

This is not a time to get carried away, this is not a time to get good because Manchester United

have had so many false starts but that is massively encouraging to say the least.

Well, what a first day at work, what a first week at work for Michael Carrick, returning as he does as a former playing champion to the club he so adores.

Pep Guardiola with perhaps some justification will look back to an early moment in the game when Diogo Dallow might have seen red rather than yellow.
