Today's episode is special because I talk to my brother and good friend and

co-founder of Campaign Zero D. Ray McKesson.

But before we get to De Ray, I wanted to talk about this COVID vaccine,

particularly vaccine hesitancy and black folk.

I think we're all familiar with black folks and our

mortality rates and COVID, but here's a reminder. Compared to whites, black Americans

are 1.4 times more likely to contract COVID, 3.7 times more likely to be hospitalized, and 2.8 times more likely to die.

Along with Latinos, our mortality rates compared to whites are the highest.

And so for a host of reasons that we've discussed here on this show before because we over index in

essential jobs, over index in dense housing communities, and over index in

intergenerational household, the valiance of COVID in our communities is stronger.

So it stands to reason that an effective vaccine would disproportionately benefit black folks.

And that brings me to a recent pew survey that has me concerned.

Based on a national survey of Americans, only 42% of black Americans said

they would get the vaccine compared to other groups, 83% of Asian Americans who would get it. compared to other groups, 83% of Asian Americans who would get it.

75% of Americans over 65 would get it.

63% of Latinos would get it.

61% of white Americans would get it.
