My Lord and my God, I firmly believe that you are here, that you see me, that you hear me.

I adore you with profound reverence.

I ask your pardon for my sins and the grace to make this time of prayer fruitful.

My immaculate Mother St. Joseph, my Father and Lord, my guardian angel, in deceit for me.

We address Jesus truly present in the Blessed Sacrament, and as always, this true presence of Jesus is the best catechesis.

There are so many lessons to be drawn.

And this Eucharistic presence of Jesus falls in line very well with the topic of today's prayer.

I ask you Jesus to help us penetrate the phrase deny oneself, that precondition to follow you.

The first condition is that we truly desire to follow you.

In Sunday's gospel,

Jesus makes a bit of a scene.

His right-hand collaborator,

who will initiate the papacy,

the rock on which the church will be built,

becomes a recipient of Jesus' most severe rebuke.

Cannot get worse than that?

Because he calls Peter, his arch-enemy, calls him Satan.

Peter attempts to dissuade Jesus from going to Jerusalem where he would

suffer horrifically and end up dying on the cross. And it stands to reason that Peter would try to change his mind.

And it's the second time Jesus addresses Satan.

And the context of which he addresses Satan is the same in both instances.
