Summary

This week, the team receives a tall order. Listener Chad is requesting the return of Liam Goligher to the theological boxing ring. Can the outspoken pastor handle another two year-long battle for orthodox doctrine of God? As it has often been the case, the conversation quickly digresses to men’s fashion and colorful pants—that’s trousers, for our British audience.  Finally arriving at today’s topic…Carl, Todd, and Aimee share their thoughts about the public fall of a number of non-denominational pastors and leaders, and if such events might drive Christians to consider confessional churches. How do confessional churches differ from the non-denominational? What might the generally smaller size of Reformed congregations indicate about those churches?   Last but not least: today’s seminary. Are there limits to academic freedom concerning institutional standards? Does the teaching in the seminary classroom line up with what students pay for, and believed they’d be learning? There’s much to chew on this week! We’re happy to offer you the opportunity to win a free copy of the helpful book So You’re Thinking About Going to Seminary by Derek Cooper. Register!

And we've been culling through some of the great questions we've been getting from some of you, our many listeners, and a bit overwhelmed by the number of great questions we get.

1:03.6

But we shouldn't be surprised because we probably have the sharpest audience of any theological slash church slash spiritual slash reformed podcast out there.

1:12.5

Just fantastic audience.

1:15.3

And one question that I thought was good.

1:21.2

Really more of a request than a question comes from Chad Vegas out in California.

1:26.7

By the way, anytime we mention Chad Vegas's name,

1:29.6

we do have to assure you that that is a real name.

1:31.9

It's not a pseudonym.

1:33.3

And yes, he has the coolest name in Christendom.

1:35.7

It's like Johnny Fontaine and the Godfather.

1:37.6

We just all imitators need to give up.

1:40.7

You're not going to come up with a better name than Chad Vegas.

1:43.2

That said, along with several other good questions, Chad asked. He did have this request that we bring

1:49.7

Liam Gallagher back on to pick another fight on the doctrine of God. And so, Liam, if you're

1:55.7

listening, and I know you are, think of some trouble you can cause, and then we'll be sure and

2:00.7

give you a platform for that.

2:02.4

I'd like to say to Liam Ghaler, he might want to think twice about Cohen. This is no country for
