I think it was a mistake on your part to even tell him about my book because what triggered it is the one question I have asked young people

for literally 55 years and have gotten the same responses for 55 years. Would you save your dog that you love

or a stranger if both were drowning? Which would you say first? And, you know, people try to, they try to get around it. Well, my dog can swim

or whatever they figure out. But I'm assuming the dog can't swim and the stranger can't swim.

And in virtually every instance, one third voted for the stranger,

one third for their dog, and one third just didn't know what to answer.

They were conflicted.

In one instance,

I've always asked this generally

of high school students.

But one time,

out of synagogue in New York City,

I was talking to, I don't know, I assume these kids were like 10 years old.

And I didn't even expect to do this, but they had me do it anyway.

So I asked them the question, one kid, not one third.

One kid said he would save the stranger.

So I said, why?
