We begin with the big political news right now in America.

one of our special lead-off guests as we track

what is clearly a political earthquake in America,

democrats surging to victories as these results poured in a win for women's rights in

Conservative Ohio that I bet you've heard is upending politics across that key state and the nation today.

It puts pressure on those Republicans who are squaring off in tonight's debate, as Nicole

just mentioned.

This is a moment that was supposed to go different.

If you're looking at live shots there and where they'll be talking, well, it was supposed

to be a moment where the Republicans hope to be discussing better news.

But right now, the five remaining eligible candidates will take the stage in Miami

and try to pitch their answers to the new setbacks from yesterday's elections.

I say 5.06 because the front runner is skipping again. You should also know this debate is an NBC special. It's

moderated by our colleagues Lester Holt and Kristen Welker along with radio show

host Hugh Hewitt. That's nice debate where the politicians will be doing something that is

good in America. They will have to compete with other clearly more powerful

voices. I'm talking quite simply about the voices of the voters who

turned out yesterday in that backlash to many issues including the right-wing

politics on choice.
