Today, the confirmation hearing for Pete Hegseth began in front of the Armed Services Committee,

and it was obvious from the outset that Hengseth had taken a page out of Brett Kavanaugh's playbook.

It was also very clear that Democratic senators were not going to pull any punches.

Let's start with one of my favorite clips from Senator Masey Heron.

You are no longer on Fox and Friends, Mr. Hexon. If confirmed, your words, actions, and

decisions will have real impacts on national security and our service members' lives. There are

close to 3 million personnel

in the Department of Defense,

$900 billion budget.

I hardly think you are prepared to do the job.

Thank you, Senator.

Thank you.

That wasn't a question, Mr. Hexon.

No, but it was a statement of facts. A guy who co-hosts a morning show or a weekend show on Fox has no business being anywhere near the Pentagon.

And this is leaving aside all of his very serious personality defects and problems with

his personal behavior aside.

He just doesn't have the experience.

And it is an insult to our service members to pretend for a second that somebody as unexperienced and unfit as Pete

Hegeseth would be put in charge of the Department of Defense.
