Summary

Democrats are getting ready for Joe Biden and Senator Kamala Harris to officially accept their nominations in an unconventional Democratic National Convention. Former First Lady Michelle Obama, former President Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, former President Bill Clinton, Senator Bernie Sanders and Governor Andrew Cuomo are just a few of the many noteworthy Democratic figures giving speeches during the 4-day event. Congressman James Clyburn from South Carolina is also scheduled to speak. He endorsed Biden right before the South Carolina primary which arguably helped propel the former Vice President to a huge win in the state and gain the momentum he needed to rally Democrats to win the nomination. He tells Anderson Cooper why he wanted to put his support behind Biden. Plus, David Axelrod, a former Senior Adviser to President Obama and CNN Senior Political Commentator, joins AC360 to discuss what the Democrats have to do to get their party excited and says “conventions are important even when they’re unconventional like this one.” Airdate: August 16, 2020 To learn more about how CNN protects listener privacy, visit cnn.com/privacy Learn more about your ad choices.
