Kamala Harris's presidential campaign reported that she raised $81 million in her first 24 hours as a candidate.

Since President Joe Biden announced he would abandon his re-election bid,

Ms Harris has earned endorsements from Senior Democrats, including Nancy Pelosi, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Earlier Ms Harris praised Mr Biden's legacy, calling it, quote,

unmatched in modern history.

Bipartisan lawmakers called on the head of America's secret service to resign

over her agency's failure to spot an assassination attempt against Donald Trump.

Kimberly Cheetel, testifying before a House of Representatives committee, rebuffed the calls.

The Secret Service earlier admitted to ignoring requests by

Mr Trump's team for additional resources, but Ms Cheetel said that it denied no requests

for the rally in question.

Hours before flying to Washington, Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel's Prime Minister,

said that Israel will remain America's indispensable and strong ally in the

Middle East regardless of who is elected in November. He said he will thank

Mr Biden for his lifelong support for Israel.
