I arrived here when I was 12 years old.

I could have never imagined the day would come when we were staring down at this kind of

creeping authoritarianism in the United States of America.

An estimated 8 million Americans took to the street Saturday in more than 3,300 no-kings

protests nationwide against President Trump.

Democracy now was in the streets of the Twin Cities, Denver, and New York.

We'll hear some of the voices.

Then New York police thwart an assassination attempt

against prominent Palestinian-American activist

Nardine Kiswani, founder of the group

within our lifetime.

When I learned that someone was plotting

to attack my home, to take my life, I wasn't just

processing that as an organizer.

I was processing it as a mother holding my infant, thinking about what it means to raise

a child under this level of threat, a threat that so many Palestinian women already face.

Nardin Kiswani will join us in studio, then to Lebanon, where three journalists were targeted

and killed in their car by an Israeli strike.

This is Israel.

This is the reality of Israel when it targets media colleagues.
