I'm here because I'm a federal worker. I'm the president of my local,

I have PT, Local 98, and I'm also one of the national coordinators with the federal unionist

network that put out a call for today's day of action in cities all over the country to stand

up to the assault on the civil service. As thousands rally against the purge underway by

President Trump and Musk's

Department of Government Efficiency, we'll get an update and speak with Quinn Slavidion, author

of Crackup Capitalism, about Musk's push to speed up the breakdown of the government.

I think we're seeing with Doge right now is kind of the convergence of three sorts of forms of politics that have never been this close to power before.

One is more familiar. It's kind of cost-cutting, productivity, efficiency, treat the government like a business or like an asset to be stripped.

Two is the more Christian conservative model of Project 2025 in the idea that you need to remove the government

from certain parts of social life altogether.

And the third is the more extreme version,

which you could think of as a kind of right-wing accelerationism.

Then to the Democratic Republic of Congo,

where the United Nations is accusing Rwanda-backed M23 fighters of killing

children, attacking hospitals and warehouses, storing humanitarian aid.

In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Congolese people have been suffering yet

again from a brutal cycle of violence.

And the fighting that is raging in Sauskivu, as a result of the continuation of the N23 offensive,

threatens to push the entire region over the precipice.
