Meanwhile, Ukraine faces a cold, dark winter after Russian strikes destroyed about half of the country's energy infrastructure.

Then to Gaza, which is entering its second winter under attack from Israel,

and talks to reach a ceasefire deal with Hamas appear to have stalled.
