Hello, friends and neighbors, happy holidays. And in this busy season, thanks for taking time out to join us on the Bill Press pod, our last podcast before the new year. You know, as we've discussed several times on this podcast, this is a tough time

0:22.5

for the nation's media for a couple of reasons. First, because Donald Trump throws so much

0:29.0

shit out there every day, it's hard to cover it all or cover any one outrage before the next

0:35.6

one comes down. Second, because for reporters, it's hard to tell

0:40.0

the truth about Donald Trump without being personally attacked by him or accused of being a

0:45.0

democratic operative. And third, because so many media executives like Jeff Bezos of the Washington

0:52.4

have surrendered to Donald Trump and paid him big bucks rather than stand up for telling the truth.

1:03.9

But you know, there are still a few brave souls out there who do their job as reporters,

1:09.7

who are determined to tell the truth, no matter the

1:12.5

consequences.

1:14.3

Earlier this month, as part of my lecture series at the Hill Center in Washington, I had a chance

to interview two of the people I consider the best journalists in America today, who just

1:25.0

happened to be married to each other, Peter Baker of the New York Times

1:28.8

and Susan Glasser of the New Yorker magazine. Today, for a special holiday treat, I wanted to share

1:37.1

that interview with you from the Hill Center, Susan Glasser and Peter Baker. Good evening,

1:42.9

everybody. So good to see you all.

1:44.5

I've never been more excited than to welcome tonight to really good friends

1:48.9

Peter Baker and Susan Glasser, Peter, the Chief White House correspondent for the New York Times,

1:54.4

and occasionally on MS Now.

1:57.4

And of course, Susan Glasser, who does her weekly column,

2:00.2

The Letter from Trump's Washington
