Okay, today we are in the Book of Axis.

We have been for some time.

We're in the chapter number 19,

and we're finishing out a little account of something that happened in the city of Ephesus,

as the apostle Paul and his friends were spreading the gospel message.

Now, what we need to know to catch up with our story is that Paul had been preaching the gospel.

Many people were coming to faith in Jesus, and they were turning away from their idol worship.

And so some men who were idol makers built these little shrines for the goddess Artemis

were feeling threatened.

Their income, their livelihood, was being threatened by this lack of business.

And so they have come together in the city center,

kind of protesting, wanting to drive Paul and his friends out.

Now, it says they have been chanting and crying out for about two hours with one voice.

Great is Artemis of the Ephesians,

and that is where we pick up in the story.
