I'm Brian. I'm on the phone with Ashfin, and today we are talking about deliverance from 1972, directed by John Borman, written by James Dickie, based on his

1970 novel of the same name, starring John Voight, Bert Reynolds, Ned Beatty, and Ronnie Cox,

and in this film, four city dwellers head to the remote Appalachian wilderness for a

canoe trip that takes a turn for the worst when they encounter some hostile locals.

So we will discuss some background info on this movie, and then we are going to switch into spoiler mode.

Yeah, yeah, first watch. I feel like it's just kind of cultural common knowledge, the general premise of this film. Am I right?

I think so. I feel like we've mentioned it on other

episodes that we've done, which are kind of similar in nature, right? Yeah, yeah. I think it's

surely influenced the horror genre, even if this may not necessarily be a horror movie,
