I want to read two verses from Jeremiah's six today lead us to pray according to them.

The first is Jeremiah's 610.

To whom shall I speak and give warning that they may hear?

Behold their ears are uncircumsized.

They cannot listen. Behold, the word of the Lord is to them an object of scorn.

Take no pleasure in it.

So did you hear that last phrase? They take no pleasure in God's

word. God's word has become to them an object of scorn, something they despise, they don't want it,

they take no pleasure in it.

And then, Jeremiah 616, thus says the Lord, stand by the roads and look and ask

for the ancient paths where the good way is and walk in it and find rest for your souls.

Oh what imagery! Walk in this way according to the word of God and you will find

rest for your soul. Put these verses together God's word is a source of pleasure that leads to rest for our souls.

Let me say that again. God's word is a source of pleasure that brings rest for our

souls when we hear it and we walk in it.

And so the question I want to ask you is,

do you view God's word that way?

Be honest, think about your approach to God's word. Do you view Bible reading or Bible study or

meditation on the Bible or memorization of the Bible as a source of

pleasure that you can't wait to do because you know that you will find rest for your soul in hearing and

obeying God's word. Or does God's word feel more like something you should do, that you would feel bad if you don't read,
