Good morning. Three minutes after ten is the time, and we weighed straight back into the

defining story of the decade today, the continuing COVID-19 crisis, but as ever, my job is to find

ways in which to ensure we neither unnecessarily alarm nor bore each other to tears. And I think

today that will be quite easy. The World Health Organization has released figures that are, well,

I mean, deeply disturbing.

And the top line, very simply, is that yesterday saw a record increase in global coronavirus cases.

This, of course, comes at a time when we are not just flirting with the idea,

but entertaining the notion of softening not just our lockdown, but also, of course, what little control over our incoming traffic. We've managed to exercise since the start. I've told you yesterday that I was,

you know, very, very conscious of not serving up an unleavened diet of pitiful porridge every morning.

But then, of course, we have to reflect reality.

Otherwise, we'll end up applauding a man for drinking a glass of water.

We can't go down rabbit holes that deep and dangerous as a community,

either as a country or just as a bunch of people that gather around this radio program every morning.
