My job tonight is really, what I want to do is accomplish two things in addition to defining

religious liberty, because we've got to define our terms, more on that in just a second.

But I want to talk about, really make the case for two things. Number one, that religious liberty

and the loss and the threats to religious liberty are indeed a significant issue, not just

for Christians,

but for the larger cultural moment in which we're in.

In other words, there's a lot at stake when it comes to this question of religious freedom,

the space that's afforded for religious freedom in the larger cultural space and so on.

And then the second thing is, I think, a really important thing.

This seems, for many of us, to be an issue that's kind of come out of nowhere.

But one of the things that we talk about in the book, A Practical Guide to Culture, which was given away just a second ago, is that cultures like water.
