| 0:00.0 | Welcome to Culture and Christianity. |
| 0:19.2 | A lot to talk about so much happening in the world, so much |
| 0:23.2 | happening internationally, so much happening in our nation, so much happening that affects people |
| 0:28.1 | of faith. I'm glad we've got a few minutes to talk. I'm going to ramble through a half a dozen |
| 0:33.4 | topics. On top of all of that, it's Fourth of July week. We're celebrating our nation and our heritage, and I've got some ideas around that. But I want to start with a little biblical piece. At the end of the day, I'm a pastor. That's my day job. The rest of this is still kind of a side hustle. | 1:25.1 | but I think there is a simple answer to that question. |
| 1:29.1 | And I don't think the reversal of it is simple, but I think the understanding of it is pretty |
| 1:33.2 | straightforward. I want to read you two or three verses to scripture and see if you can get |
| 1:37.2 | the answer. You don't have to be really clever, and you certainly don't even have to be a biblical |
| 1:41.0 | scholar. And Job 2828, |
| 1:44.3 | Job is typically believed to be the oldest book in the Bible. |
| 1:47.9 | It says that the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom. |
| 1:51.3 | And then in Psalm 11, it's not unique to this verse. |
| 1:54.0 | It's something of a theme in the book of Psalms. |
| 1:56.5 | It says, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. |
| 2:00.5 | And in Proverbs 1-7, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. And in Proverbs 1 7, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. |
| 2:05.5 | There it is, plain sight, hiding in plain sight. |
