I'm Minicimes, and I am joined today by first-time guest, long-time friend of the show, I would

say. But first-time guest, which is very exciting, here for a very exciting and appropriate

topic. It is Deante Lee of the Athletic. Deante, welcome to the show.

Thank you for having me. I feel like I finally crossed the final Rubicon in my little group

check, because all of my other football friends have all been on the show before. So now

I think I have officially arrived. I don't know if Seth Colleen is ever going to cross

that Rubicon. Big Phantasythalina who used to host Too High with Deante Lee, which is a

podcast I love. Deante, you worked at PFF, you've been in the New York Times. Now you're

a football writer for the Athletic. How is that going?

It was really odd. I was actually telling one of my editors that I feel like I have experienced

two different extremes, like coming on, covering the draft. I basically started on April

1. So like it was a complete sprint to the finish line, do the live blog and all our

coverage, do the draft. And then you get like the NFL calendar, which just falls off a cliff,

really a month after the draft. So I feel like I'm tooling my thumbs more times than that.

But just trying to get a little bit more familiar with everybody who works within the company,

guys like Ted and Lynn, Robert May is obviously somebody who I have a really good relationship

with and trying to figure out what exactly I'm going to do to carve out my voice here.
