We come now at last to the end of our discussion of the Second Coming of Christ. And today I want to say what application this doctrine has to our lives. What should

0:24.4

be our response to what we've learned about the second coming of Christ? I think that this doctrine

0:31.7

has considerable practical application in our lives. First, it is a call to moral living, a call to holiness.

0:44.4

This contrasts with what we saw last time about the imminent potential apocalypse predicted by

0:52.8

physical eschatology. There you'll remember that Adams and

0:58.0

Loughlin said that preparation is as impossible as it is futile. There's nothing you

2:04.7

because of which the heavens will be kindled and dissolved, and the elements will melt with fire.

2:11.9

But according to his promise, we wait for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. Therefore,

2:22.2

beloved, since you wait for these, be zealous to be found by him without spot or blemish

2:30.9

and at peace. So the doctrine of the second coming of Christ ought to be an

2:38.2

incentive for us to live lives that are holy and blameless and to be at peace with ourselves

2:46.9

and with others. Paul draws a similar application in Romans chapter 13, verses 11 to 14.

2:57.8

Paul writes, besides this, you know what hour it is, how it is full time now for you to wake
