It's kind of like a dream come true, end quote.

That was Namari Burnett.

But not after Thursday's win over Penn State when he scored more points 31 than he had in a collegiate game by 10.

Or more points than any other Michigan Wolverine in an individual game this season,

surpassing YACs at Maryland and Res against USC.

Each of those two had 29.

That quote came six days ago inside the visiting locker room at the Breslin Center after

Namari and the Wolverines won for the first time since 2018 at East Lansing.

Now, as Dusty May talked about on that Friday night, that team, the 25-26 Wolverines

had not played there, but Namari had with really no chance two seasons ago as part

of Michigan's eight and 24 season.

And last year, where Michigan played its worst stretch of the season down the stretch

in the regular

season, and lost going away to Michigan State. It's fitting that Nomari, who did not

score in that game against Michigan State on Friday and who did not play in the final

16 and a half minutes of that game, still had the excitement that he had. He is very much win first.

And for a guy who's overcome, as much as he has, from a McDonald's All-American in the same

class as Cade Cunningham, Jalen Green, Evan Mobley, the top three picks of the next year's

draft. Burnett has endured a great deal, a couple of different

collegiate stops before Michigan, an injury that cost him his second season, and a willingness

to come back, even though unquestionably, he could have scored more, he could have been more
