During the college basketball offseason, the conversation tends to revolve around the transfer portal and how a program's roster changes much more than it used to year to year.

We've discussed this plenty on the podcast and the topic's not going away.

Today, we have two guests for you on the show, Elliot Kadoe from men's basketball and then Macy Brown from women's basketball.

There is no previous connection between the two other than they now play basketball at the

University of Michigan.

And obviously one was in the portal this offseason.

One was not.

But I do think these two individuals prove a larger point about the uniqueness of every

transfer portal decision

to enter or not to enter. And that uniqueness isn't just that Elliot did go into the portal

and Macy stayed at Michigan heading into her third season. It's that each college athlete's career

can go in a seemingly infinite number of directions.

Elliot and Macy have both had some unique backgrounds.

Elliot, the son of a Swedish mother and a Haitian father.

He's overcome some visual and hearing challenges to get to this point.

Macy, part of a basketball family with two older sisters who played D1 basketball,

and they took very different paths from Macy. As we'll discuss with Elliot, North Carolina,

his previous university, will always be an important part of his story because he reclaimed

full vision through a painful but necessary procedure.

He'll talk about that in a little bit.

Elliot also had some incredible moments on the basketball floor,

even if they came in seasons that won't be remembered forever in Chapel Hill.
