Jordan Hobbs wanted to take a little more time away from the game of basketball this spring

after yet another trip for Michigan women's basketball to the NCAA tournament.

And the rationale was both from an athletic standpoint and from a professional, a student standpoint.

Athletically, Jordan has worked tirelessly since she arrived on campus as a freshman to carve out a role and then enhance it.

The trajectory has been old school for her, barely play as a freshman, then become a key

reserve as a sophomore, then a starter and one of the top players on the team as a junior.

Before one more go around here as her senior season approaches, Jordan wanted to slowly

ease her way back in, take a little bit of a mental reset. Then, student-wise, soon to be

professional-wise, she spent time in New York City interning as she prepares for her final year

of academic work at the prestigious Ross school of business here at Michigan.

It was an awesome opportunity and she'll discuss it here momentarily.

But during all of that, where she was trying to get away, it was a pretty hectic spring

and a newsworthy spring for Michigan women's basketball.

Now, these days, every program does look different year to year, and there are

departures expected with every program every season. Now, some were expected. Others that happened

were unexpected. So Jordan Hobbs returned to campus as one of just four total returning

players to the program.

An offseason like that in the great era of Kim Barnes-Riko as head coach, it's one of a kind.

Now, so too is Michigan's incoming recruiting class.

That's in a good way.
