8-year-old Danny Wolf was glued to the late stages of regulation between Michigan and Kansas

in the 2013 Sweet 16. Who can forget, Trey Burke's game-tying three, forcing overtime, and

ultimately becoming the catalyst to a landmark win for Michigan men's basketball, one that lifted

them all the way to the national championship game.

Danny's family molded him into a Michigan fan, and as we'll learn later, that is to this point

his foremost memory of being a Wolverine fan.

Now, Danny's family was also important at molding him into a great basketball player,

and those two worlds collided a few years back, albeit briefly.

Danny was considering a walk-on opportunity to join the Michigan program out of high school.

It would have been on paper a dream come true, but it wasn't the perfect fit at that time. He went to Yale,

and certainly that was a great decision. Because two years later, just this past spring,

Danny Wolf was in a similar situation, this time as a prized portal recruit. He thrived

for Team Israel at the 20-23 FIBA under 20 European Championship in

Greece and had an equally impressive sophomore season at Yale, one that included an Ivy League

Tournament MVP award, a win over Auburn in a 413 game in the NCAA tournament, and a buzzer-beating

win to claim the Ivy League Championship

just a few days prior. Wolf did indeed elect to go into the portal after that sophomore

season, ultimately because he wanted to challenge himself at the highest level of college

basketball so that maybe he could realize another dream

of reaching the NBA.

This time around, that trip into the portal prompted the correct fit for the storybook

journey to Michigan, and not just because now it would include a scholarship.
