You've heard me talk about the intentional nature of Michigan men's basketball head coach, Dusty May,

with almost an entire roster to put together when he took this job.

Dusty had a couple of things at the top of his to-do list.

I've played this clip before, but it's relevant to today's podcast guest.

We went into, I guess, this blank canvas with looking for a pass first point guard

that was capable of shooting off the dribble and off the catch and was also a capable defender

as physical as the Big Ten is as a league. We wanted a strong physical guard that could defend,

and that would set the tone as well from the defensive side of the ball. And then we wanted a center. We needed a

center that could do a lot of things. So we addressed those needs. And then we thought, now let's

fill in these other gaps with talent, with skill, with size. Now last week, we talked to one of the

centers, Michigan Secure. That was FAU transfer, Vlad Golden. Can't recommend you checking

out that interview enough. Vlad was awesome. And I promise you'll get the other center, Danny Wolf here

soon, on Defend the Block. But let's talk about those qualities that Dusty May mentioned in that

clip for a point guard. Pass first. A able to shoot off the dribble and off the catch,

a capable defender, strong, physical, someone to, quote, set the tone. Now, a point guard with all

of those qualities, that doesn't necessarily grow on trees, but if Dusty has been so emphatic that

this team expects to win and has been

up front with the belief that the program's roster building has gone even better than he

imagined when he first took this job, well, based on those comments of what Michigan was looking

to secure early in the process of building the roster, Dusty must really believe that Trey Donaldson can and or will do all of those things.

And as you'll learn from Trey, he doesn't just believe it.

He truly knows it in his mind.
