In late March of 2023, Dusty May in Florida Atlantic soared to the peak of college basketball

from obscurity to the final four.

In the aftermath of that incredible weekend at Madison Square Garden, when FAU won in the

Sweet 16 and Elite 8, today's guest on Defend the Block, CBS Sports's Matt Norlander,

wrote an amazing story on Dusty May's first

moments as the FAU head coach, and one of the paragraphs went as quoted,

May had signed FAU's contract that made him a first time head coach just a few hours earlier,

and here he was, balling in a hotel room, trying to figure out a way to back out

of the deal, end quote.

Shortly thereafter, as Norlander penned in the piece titled, Dusty May wanted to quit

hours after signing FAUU contract, now he's coached Owls to improbable final four run,

may transition from overwhelming regrets to the early stages

of a build that would reach that improbable final four.

In part, thanks to his wife Anna, who as Norlander described, told Dusty to, quote,
