The last time we put out an episode of Defend the Block, it came out early on the morning of March 14th.

Hours, after a tough season, reached a predicted outcome at its end.

Michigan was in last place in the Big Ten's regular season.

Standings and then Penn State ousted the Wolverines on the first day of the Big Ten tournament.

On that episode, I mentioned that change was coming.

It was unclear how that would play

out, what kind of change would take place, but you do not go 8 and 24 at the University of

Michigan and stay completely status quo. And we learned shortly thereafter that change would come

at the very top. Head coach Juan Howard was relieved of his duties. From there, Michigan fans turned their attention to the promise of a new head coach

and who that would be.

And of all the realistic names bandied about by fans, commentators, all of that,

it felt like Dusty May of Florida Atlantic was the top choice.

And a little more than a week later, we learned that now it's Dusty May of the University

of Michigan.

On Tuesday, Coach May held his introductory press conference.

He emphasized the power of the Block M.

He preached the core pillars of teamwork, passion, and togetherness.

He said that culture is people, and he set the goal of the team being enjoyable

to watch. If you have not watched that press conference, I encourage you to do it. It was enjoyable,

and it was a great first step in the Dusty May era, one that comes with plenty of anticipation.
