There were few, if any, moments in Michigan men's basketball's lost to McNeese State on Friday night at Chrysler Center when Michigan felt in command, in control of a game that seemingly belonged to McNeese the entire way.

The Cowboys forced seven turnovers in the game's first eight minutes.

Michigan stayed afloat in the first half, thanks to a three-point barrage that belied what was a pretty dominant first half from

McNeese.

Michigan was 10 of 19 from three in the first half.

They were two of five from two-point range.

That's not how Michigan would ideally like to play basketball.

This season, Michigan's offense has certainly been far ahead of its defense, but certainly the three-point shooting hasn't

been leaned upon in a way that it was trying to keep Michigan in the ball game against

McNeese State. And that, like so many other aspects of this game, caught up to

Michigan in the second half. The Wolverines, after halftime, were three of 16 from the long line.

They were 31% as a team offensively, and McNeese State just picked up right where they left

off. They were pretty thorough in this victory over the Wolverines.

They had 42 points in the paint.

Despite being undersized, they were even in the rebounding margin.

They only committed four turnovers in the entire game.

And when Michigan tried to string things out and force McNeese to go to the free throw line

and make their foul shots,

they shot it at 71%. This was a McNeese state team that on Friday, December 29th, was flat out

better than Michigan. It wasn't really all that close, and the final score mostly indicated that.

McNeese won at 87 to 76.

Certainly this type of performance, game loss, it will bring about more questions than answers.
