In the early days of the pandemic, when we were all staying home trying to keep away from others

0:04.6

in order to try to stop the spread of COVID, I tried my best to find ways to get my mind off

0:09.2

what was going on and to try to stay as busy as a sports broadcaster could be when there's

0:14.0

no sports going on. One of the things I did was clean out my personal email address. My work email

0:19.5

has normally been fairly well organized. My

0:22.3

personal one, mostly in my life, has very much not been. I was one of those people with some

0:28.5

ridiculous number, four or five digits of unread emails. One of those numbers that just stands out

0:33.3

and looks kind of odd on your phone from a notification standpoint. Needless to say, the process

years later, had I taken a detour from where I am now as I looked back at all these emails.

1:07.1

Well, imagine going back even further to a past version of yourself, to past responsibilities you had.

1:14.5

For Fab Five member, Jimmy King, he did that recently.

1:18.2

He had a few credit hours to finish in order to graduate from the University of Michigan.

1:22.7

And this was so distant in his past that, sure enough, his daughter would also be working toward the end of her

1:28.9

college career and would eventually walk at graduation with him. Most aspects of your life tend to go

1:35.3

in one of two directions. Some people, hobbies, passions in your life stay with you for a long time.

1:42.1

Many, many, many others are fleeting. Here one day, seemingly gone the next.

1:47.7

Like I can delete an email. Rarely do you have something that becomes and is a big piece of you for a

1:53.4

significant stretch of time. Then it goes away for a much longer period of time, and you loop back to it.
