As I'm sure you've seen and heard on the podcast feed during basketball season, Terry Mills and I host the Inside Michigan basketball radio show, one hour almost every week during hoop season.

And we have plenty of conversation with various individuals from both programs, with Kim Barnes-Riko being the most common guest.

And what I enjoy maybe the most about that show is that Terry and I treat it more as a discussion, right?

Coach Rico, coach Howard, the assistants, the players.

When they're interviewed during the course of the season, it's almost always about the most recent game or the game that just took place or the game that's about to happen in the very near future.

On that show, the goal is is try to break some new ground,

ask some different questions. In one area that we try to do that, especially with Coach

Rico, who's been here for so long and has created such an incredible program, is in chatting about

those who have moved on from the University of Michigan Women's Basketball

program, either as a player or a coach.

Other than talking about her immediate family, I think Coach O'Rico perks up the most when

we talk about members of her extended basketball family.

One of our guests this week here on Defend the Block is now a Wolverine player turned

Wolverine coach.

Jillian Dunstan is one of the key figures to Michigan women's basketball, steady and

incredible rise, and to one of the top programs, not just in the Big Ten, but one that really

can truly set goals to make waves nationally.

Dunstan, 138 games played, 862 career

rebounds, never prolific but always important. Great teammate, great leader, and a key cog for

some important team. She took that same mindset she had as a player and poured herself into the coaching rank,

starting at the ground floor as a graduate assistant at Florida State and eventually

progressing to an assistant position with Drexel, where she helped the Dragons to 63 wins,
