Let's speak in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for.

One of the most interesting features of the traditional teaching on the feelings or passions

is that the most fundamental feelings aren't even actual feelings, they're potential feelings.

So for instance, if I pass by the kitchen where someone is opening a takeout box of fresh pizza,

I will feel an active desire for that pizza. That typically happens to me as well with coffee and bacon. That's an actual

push towards something I regard as a good, But even when there's no pizza or bacon or coffee and even

when I'm not feeling any active concrete desire for these, I can still confidently say, I like pizza, I like

bacon, I really like coffee.

In other words, my default attitude toward pizza is very positive.

Even more positive for coffee or bacon.

Even if there's no actual pizza in the immediate vicinity, even if I'm not even thinking about pizza at all.

We'd normally express a default positive attitude towards something by saying we like it.

And when we have a default negative attitude towards something, we'd say we dislike it. And these default

attitudes, our likes and dislikes, play a major role in our day-to-day

experiences, which means we want to make sure we like and dislike the right things.

Our Father who art in heaven,, hollow would be your name, thy kingdom come, thy will be

done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us to stay our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us and

lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
