Today we have another one of our Deep Trouble series. Deep Trouble is an exclusive series only found here on adventure rider radio.

It's stories from riders that have experienced catastrophes, breakdowns, being lost, injuries, other issues that have led them into deep trouble.

And of course, no one wants to run into trouble,

but if there was no threat to dodge, no line in the sand to skirt,

no precipitous edge to approach, there would be no adventure.

And because adventure lives in that zone, that gray zone between safety and danger,

it's all about riding that

our gray zone, your gray zone, whatever that is.

And our Deep Trouble series is about helping you ride the gray zone without crossing into danger

by hearing stories of those that have fallen into trouble,

struggled, and returned with lessons for all of us.

And should you find yourself in a situation, hopefully some of what we learn through

this will pay off in getting you out of deep trouble.

Erwin Cabelius rode solo into the desert with a full understanding of what to expect.

He was used to it.

He was experienced, skilled, prepared.

In the end, of course, he was all right.

But looking back, we identify a number of seemingly innocuous choices

that had conditions been different, they could have spelled disaster,

as well as a serious mistake, entire choice.
