Because I think most of the music that's out right now is pretty boring and pretty safe

and pretty packaged and corporate and lifeless.

I think spirit of rock and roll is dead for the most part,

and it's been nicely sold and packaged and put into everybody's home via MTV,

and it's a safe commodity now, and there's very few bands challenging anything

and doing anything different. It's just a matter of making music that you think is good, you know? And then that's that. When the label comes at you, this is my music. You know, sometimes there's people with some integrity that might have points to raise, you know, that you don't think of, and that makes sense. But to say, hey, grunge is in fashion,

so why don't you incorporate, you know,

that's ridiculous to even consider that kind of shit.

They're the people that make more money than you do

when they sell a record.
